Curriculum:

The Sir Syed National School follows CBSE based Curriculum, well integrated with Value based Learning.

The following picture gives the broad outline of subjects & skills covered in our curriculum at different levels in order to provide an idea of how a child will progress at The Sir Syed National School:

Life Skills & Value Based Learning (The Core): We consider inculcation of values and building life skills as the foundation of all that a child needs to learn life. School ensures that students acquire values and skills to take them through life as a responsible member of family, community and society at large.

Scholastic Skills (The Middle Circle): It covers the content-based subjects i.e. Languages, Humanities, Mathematics, Computers and Sciences. It ensures that students have a good grounding in content across different areas of study.

Instructional Process

At the Sir Syed National School we follow 3 Step Instructional Process:

bullet Step 1: Planning: We have developed Annual Key Performance Indicators separately for all classes. Keeping in view the curriculum and annual goals, each unit of each subject is meticulously planned followed by framing of clear- cut Objective driven Lesson Plans.

Step 2: Teaching: Lesson Plans are effectively implemented and students are taught using different teaching aids and strategies to ensure learning of all students with different learning styles.

Step 3: Progress Monitoring & Evaluation: Students Performance is evaluated time to time and a track record is maintained. We analyze the data; identify areas of improvements of student and also of teaching practice. Based on results required actions are taken for improvement of entire teaching and learning process.

Assessment & Evaluation

A.

Uniform Assessment System: Keeping in line with guidelines given by CBSE, students at The Green School are assessed on pattern of Uniform Assessment System.

Students will be assessed on Scholastic (Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, etc.) and Co-Scholastic (Art & Craft, Yoga, Discipline, etc.) Areas.

No formal exams would be conducted till class II. Students' performance would be assessed only through regular classroom tests & observations.

Class III onwards, students would be evaluated using Periodic assessments as well as formal exams in two terms.

Periodic Assessments (PA): They will cover Class Tests (monthly); Note Book Submissions (at term end) and Subject Enrichment activities (aiming to increase understanding and subject skills of students).

Formal Exams: There will be two formal assessments, Half-yearly & Final Assessments.

B. Grading Criteria:

Nursery to Class V

bullet Scholastic Areas: While reporting students' achievement in different scholastic areas, indirect grading in absolute scale having five points will be used. The grades will stand for the following distribution of marks:

No retest will be conducted if a student remains absent for any written test.

Co-scholastic Areas: During an academic year, students will be observed and marked for his overall performance, in co- scholastic areas of the curriculum.

The grades will be reflected in the Progress report issued to the students.

Class V onwards: Scholastic as well Co-Scholastic areas would be assessed as per the CBSE norms.

C.Assessment Schedule:
